One of Our Own Gets Married! Shahana + Jacob's Vintage Richmond Wedding

It's definitely a fun day when one of our team members gets to plan their own wedding! If you love autumnal florals, vintage decor, and romantic moments, get ready for Shahana and Jacob’s wedding at Gather at the Hallsboro Store to make your heart swell with happiness! The cozy vibes were strong in their outdoor ceremony, which featured a jaw-dropping woodland backdrop. The jewel-tone color palette added both a classic elegance and bohemian charm, and the calligraphed signage Shahana made added the sweetest touch of personalization. Shahana's classic long sleeve lace gown mixed with the mismatched metallic bridesmaids gowns perfectly fit the cozy, woodsy, romantic feel of this wedding. We also love that Jacob stayed true to his personal style with a fun emerald green suit and custom Vans shoes. From the couple’s intimate ceremony in the woods to their fun sparkler send off, photographer Nicki Metcalf was there to capture every dreamy moment of this wedding!

"I graduated with a design degree from VCUArts and was so excited at the opportunity to fully design my own invitations! I designed them to align with our wedding website."

"A very talented friend of mine, Danielle Stevens, made my engagement ring. I'm so happy with how it turned out; simple but unique. The stone is a grey diamond."

"I thought the back of that necklace was so cool. It was extra special because also on that necklace was my 'something borrowed'--the diamond out of my grandmother's engagement ring that she had turned into a pendant when my grandfather passed away."

"Jacob's boutonniere had one of his grandmother's butterfly pins in it.  He was incredibly close to her. This was his special way of having her there with him."

"All of my bridesmaids have such different personalities, so I wanted them to have different gowns. We went on a shopping trip and they helped pick their own dresses."

"One of my bridesmaids owns an awesome leather handbag business, Awl Snap, and agreed to help me make custom leather suspenders for all the guys. They turned out so perfect."

"I think this is actually one of my favorite pictures to come out of the whole day! Jacob is the middle brother of three. He and his brothers have such a great relationship. They're more friends than they are brothers most of the time...love these guys!"

"My brother and Alex, my Maid of Honor, are both amazing musicians. They did a beautiful duet version of the song All I Want Is You by Barry Louis Polisar--from the movie Juno."

"Gather could not have been a more perfect fit. It's a 19th century general store that's been converted into an adorable gift and local goods shop, which in turn, magically transforms into an event space. Melissa, the owner, was so helpful and went above and beyond for what is typically expected from a venue."

"We spent so many months collecting vintage bottles and vases for the centerpieces. Some came from thrift stores or flea markets, or even my grandmother's attic! We had friends and family members all finding us a cool bottle here and there when they would see them. It was definitely a group effort!"
